Narendra Modi In Maharashtra Highlights: PM Modi Lays Foundation For Mumbai Metro's Line-5, Pune Metro's Phase 3

PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the third metro line between Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar in Pune.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Maharashtra today where he laid the foundation stone to launch infrastructure and housing projects worth Rs 41,000 crore. In Kalyan, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of two metro corridors -Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan metro and Dahisar-Mira-Bhayander metro.

Initiating the City and Industrial Development Corporation's (CIDCO) housing project for 90,000 poor and middle-class people, PM Modi said his government is planning and running schemes to raise the lifestyle of the poor. The housing scheme offers around 89,771 affordable homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

The estimated cost of two metro projects has been pegged to be of more than Rs 33,000 crore, while housing projects for more than 90,000 poor and middle-class people were launched in Thane on Tuesday.

In Pune, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the third metro line between Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar, being implemented by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority on a public-private partnership basis.

After laying the foundation stone of two metro rail corridors today, PM Modi said that by 2024, Mumbai will have 275-km long metro line. "In the coming three years, 35-km long metro line will be added to the existing network. By 2024, Mumbai will have a 275-km long metro line," PM Modi said while addressing a gathering in Thane.
