Lok Sabha Election 2019: Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra campaigned across Gujarat, Karnataka and UP
Congress President Rahul Gandhi visited two states today as part of his party's campaign for the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. Mr Gandhi first visited Gujarat -- the home turf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi -- where addressed a public rally in Bajipura in Tapi district. Mr Gandhi then headed to Karnataka where he addressed two political rallies in Raichur and Chikodi. Only yesterday, PM Modi addressed a public meeting in Karnataka's Chikodi where he claimed that Congress wants to install a "helpless" government. As 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka went to polls yesterday, the focus has shifted to the second phase next week with leaders hitting the campaign trail in the northern belt of the state. Of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, fourteen in the northern parts will go to polls on April 23 in the second phase. Also today, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra held a road show in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. Before that, Priyanka Gandhi also held detailed parleys with senior party leaders in Amethi to finalise the campaign strategy of her brother and party chief, Rahul Gandhi, who is seeking reelection from the constituency.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi held detailed parleys with senior party leaders in Amethi to finalise the campaign strategy of her brother and party chief, Rahul Gandhi, who is seeking reelection from the constituency. A senior Congress leader, who was present at the closed-door meeting, said she gave new directives and finalised the strategy of the party in the constituency and took feedback on the preparations for the election on May 6. Priyanka Gandhi arrived in Amethi from New Delhi this morning and held the meeting with party office-bearers at the Congress office in Gauriganj area.
