The world is gearing up for the Paris Climate Summit or COP-21 to be held later this year where 195 countries are expected to participate mostly at heads of state level.
One key player, Laurence Tubiana, who is the French Ambassador for climate change negotiations spoke to NDTV's Pallava Bagla where she admits that spies have tracked her.
Here's the excerpt from the interview with Ms Tubiana:
NDTV: A lot is said about these oil and gas companies that they are very powerful, they do so many things. Do you ever fear for your life in a situation like this, that if you reach a negotiation and they don't like it what will happen?
Laurence Tubiana: I haven't thought about that, we will see. I have been spied (upon), that is true, my telephone... I don't feel any danger. I would love that the climate negotiations feel so much pressure on some companies, but anyway I don't feel... I would be careful now.
NDTV: You said your phones were tapped and you were spied upon, so what were they looking from you?
Laurence Tubiana: I don't know, but they think in this climate change negotiations there is secret information. I can tell you nothing is secret, everything is leaked... there is no need to spy.
