A thick blanket of fog engulfs the national capital leading to poor visibility and delay in flights at the Delhi airport today. Train services have also been affected with 27 trains to Delhi running late due to fog, news agency ANI reported.

"Due to fog, some of flights have been put on hold at the departure points. This has led to a delay," a source at Delhi airport said. "Largely there have been no diversions or cancellations of flights as of now," he added.
Six trains have been diverted following the Seemanchal Express accident that claimed seven lives and left over 27 injured.
India Meteorological Department said, there will be dense to very dense fog at several places and is likely to continue over northwest India and Bihar during next 24 hours.
The air quality index was recorded poor today morning. According to the Air Quality Index major pollutants PM 2.5 at 206 and PM 10 at 216 were both in 'Poor' category in Lodhi Road area.

According to the Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting (SAFAR), moderate foggy conditions due to radiation fog and subtle effect of drizzle is still persisting and not allowing air quality to improve. "However, such conditions cannot get prolonged for long and AQI will start to improve faster after 3 days. There is a partial probability of occurrence of active western disturbance," the SAFAR said.
