India Corovairus Cases: A total of 73,73,375 people have recuperated from COVID-19 so far
India saw 48,648 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day taking the COVID-19 caseload to 80,88,851, while the active cases fell below 6,00,000, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday. The national recovery rate crossed 91 per cent.
The COVID-19 deaths in the country climbed to 1,21,090 with 563 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.
A total of 73,73,375 people have recuperated from COVID-19 so far pushing the national recovery rate to 91.15 per cent while the case fatality rate stands at 1.50 per cent.
There are 5,94,386 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country as on date which comprises 7.35 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.
India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23 and 40 lakh on September 5

France entered a new lockdown on Friday as the resurgent coronavirus pandemic increasingly forced other countries to consider following suit, with Europe passing 10 million total infections and the United States posting a daily record of 90,000 cases.

Germany today marked 18,681 new COVID-19 infections within one day, a new record for the third day in a row, bringing the total confirmed cases to 499,694, the federal government agency for disease control and prevention Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Friday.
Centre Asks States To Form Committees For Smooth COVID-19 Vaccination Drive
The Centre has asked states to constitute committees for coordination and overseeing COVID-19 vaccination drive.
The COVID-19 vaccine introduction will span over a year with multiple groups being included "sequentially starting from health care workers", the Health Ministry said.
The government also sought constitution of committees at state and district levels which will review preparatory activities in terms of cold chain preparedness, operational planning, strategies for state-specific challenges in terms of geographical terrain and hard-to-reach areas, etc.
Coronavirus Update: Delhi Covid Cases Above 5,000 For 3rd Straight Day, Spike In ICU Patients
For the third consecutive day, Delhi recorded over 5,000 new coronavirus cases with a new 24-hour high of 5,891 on Friday. Delhi had recorded its second-highest cases on Thursday at 5,739. Total cases are now at over 3.81 lakh.
47 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours and 4,433 people recovered. Delhi's total active cases are at 32,363 while deaths are at 6,470.
3.42 lakh total people in Delhi have recovered so far and the recovery rate stands at 89.8 per cent while the death rate is 1.7 per cent.
The Delhi government is not calling it the capital's third wave yet but has said that it would wait for a few days and observe the trend. The government said that the numbers are rising because of tighter contact tracing and testing. On Friday, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain cautioned against the double-whammy of COVID-19 and pollution.
380 New COVID Cases Take Assam's Tally To 2.06 lakh
Assam's COVID-19 death count increased to 926 with three more persons dying of the disease on Friday, while 380 new infections pushed the caseload in the state to 2,06,015, Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

West Bengal on Friday reported the highest single-day recovery of 4,015 COVID-19 patients, taking the total number of cured people to 3,25,888, the health department said in a bulletin.

Consider Masks As Vaccine Till One Is Available For Use: Delhi Minister
With Delhi reporting record jumps in COVID-19 cases for two straight days, Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Friday said people should consider masks as a "vaccine" against the virus till the time one is available.
"People should consider masks as a vaccine till there is one. The spread of the virus can be stopped to a large extent if everyone wears a mask," Mr Jain told PTI.
Centre Directs States To Coordinate Vaccine Preparatory Activities
The Central government has directed States and districts to constitute committees at their level for preparatory activities regarding the introduction of the COVID-19 vaccine, news agency ANI has reported.

The Tokyo metropolitan government reported 204 new daily COVID-19 infections, according to preliminary figures released at 3:00 pm local time on Friday.
The latest figure for the capital of 14 million marks the second straight day that infections have topped the 200-mark and the 11th successive day new positive cases have surpassed 100, the metropolitan government said.

COVID-19: Active caseload below 6 lakh for the first time after 85 days
The active caseload of coronavirus infection in the country dropped below 6 lakh for the first time in nearly three months and comprises only 7.35 per cent of the total cases, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday, asserting India has achieved a significant milestone in its fight against COVID-19.

Russia reports new single-day record of over 18,000 COVID-19 cases
Russia has registered 18,283 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, up from 17,717 yesterday, breaking the record for a second consecutive day and taking the cumulative total to 1,599,976, the country's coronavirus response center said on Friday.
"In the past 24 hours, Russia has confirmed 18,283 COVID-19 cases in 84 regions, of which 4,072 (22.3 per cent) were detected actively, with people showing no clinical symptoms," the response center said, adding that the case count has reached 1,599,976.

Odisha reports 1,547 new COVID-19 cases, 11 more fatalities
Odisha on Friday reported 1,547 new COVID-19 cases, which took the tally in the coastal state to 2,88,646, while 11 fresh fatalities pushed the deaths to 1,308, a health department official said. Of the new cases, 891 were reported from various quarantine centres and 656 people detected during contact tracing, he said.
Telangana reports 1,531 new COVID-19 cases
As many as 1,531 new COVID-19 cases, 1,048 recoveries and six deaths were reported from Telangana in the last 24 hours, the state Health Department informed on Friday.
With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 2,37,187, with 18,456 active cases and 2,17,401 recoveries.
So far, a total of 1,330 lives have been claimed by the infectious virus in the state.
No fresh Covid-19 death in Puducherry; 149 fresh cases take tally to 34,908
The union territory of Puducherry recorded no fresh COVID-19 death for a third time this week while 149 new cases were reported, a top Health department official said on Friday.
Puducherry had on October 26 and 27 reported no coronavirus related fatalities after having done so on October 18 for the first time this month.
The 149 fresh infections in the last 24 hours ending 10 AM today took the overall tally to 34,908 after the transfer of two cases to Tamil Nadu, Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release.
Thane district records 1,802 new COVID-19 cases, 40 deaths
Thane district of Maharashtra recorded 1,802 fresh cases of coronavirus, taking its tally to 2,10,096, an official said on Friday.
The official said the deaths increased to 5,302 after 40 more patients have died due to the infection in the district on Thursday.
He said the COVID-19 recovery rate of the district is 92.76 per cent (1,94,881), while the mortality rate is 2.52 per cent (5,302). Thane district has 9,913 active cases at present, the official said.

New Zealand to introduce compulsory COVID-19 testing for arriving international maritime crew
The New Zealand government is moving to provide further protection against the chance of COVID-19 entering New Zealand through the maritime border.
After consulting with the maritime sector on tightening of the requirements for international maritime crew entering the country, Health Minister Chris Hipkins said on Friday that mandatory testing would be required for all replacement maritime crew arriving in New Zealand, regardless of the time they spend in transit.
This will begin from next week, with any maritime crew in managed isolation for more than 24 hours getting a COVID-19 test, Hipkins said in a statement.
"At the same time, we will also test maritime crew departing New Zealand, providing end to end protection in this area," he said.
Arunachal Pradesh reports 88 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death
The COVID-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 14,668 on Friday as 88 more people have tested positive for the infection, a health official said.
A 56-year-old male with comorbidity died in a dedicated Covid hospital (DCH) at Pasighat in East Siang district on Thursday, pushing the COVID-19 deaths in the northeastern state to 37, the official said.
Australia's active COVID-19 cases hit four-month low
Australian officials said on Friday there just under 200 active cases of COVID-19 in the country, the lowest number in more than four months and well down from a peak of just over 8,000 in mid-August

At least 395 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Jharkhand, pushing the state's coronavirus caseload to 1,00,964 on Friday, a health official said.
The COVID-19 deaths in the state rose to 883 with three more persons succumbing to the disease, he said.
Ranchi district reported the highest number of new cases at 78, followed by East Singhbhum (61) and Dhanbad (50), the official said.
