BRICS Summit 2017: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Xi Jingping in Xiamen
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held their first bilateral meeting in China's port city of Xiamen. The meeting comes nearly a week after India and China announced resolution of the 73-day-long Dokalam standoff. New Delhi on Monday scored a significant diplomatic win after BRICS nations, for the first time, named Pakistan-based groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and the Haqqani network in a strongly-worded declaration condemning terror. For the first time, the declaration was backed by China, which has resisted a similar move at last year's summit in Goa.

PM Modi, Xi Meet After BRICSPM Modi congratulated Xi Jinping for the "very successful" execution of the three-day BRICS Summit.
Xi told Modi that "healthy, stable bilateral ties (were) in line with fundamental interests of the two nations", Xinhua news agency reported.

PM Modi said India has a long tradition of partnerships with fellow developing countries, while pursuing its own aspirations for growth.
The ten noble commitments suggested by PM Modi included creating a safer world by "organised and coordinated action on at least three issues: Counter Terrorism, Cyber Security and Disaster Management".
Other noble commitments suggested by the prime minister were -- creating a greener world, creating an enabled world, creating an inclusive world, creating a digital world, creating a skilled world, creating a healthier world, creating an equitable world, creating a connected world and creating a harmonious world.

Xi Jinping asks Business Council, NDB to ensure more BRICS cooperation
Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on the BRICS Business Council and the New Development Bank (NDB) to ensure greater cooperation among BRICS countries.
In his remarks during talks between the BRICS Business Council and BRICS leaders attending the ninth BRICS summit, Xi praised the achievements of the council and the NDB, reported news agency PTI.
The Business Council comprising business organisations from all the five countries has done a lot in the fields of e-commerce, technical development, standard setting, and the experience sharing in the digital economy, he said.
Xi noted that the Sanghai-headquartered NDB has developed new projects with the opening of its African regional centre. The NDB has developed new projects, with the recent opening of its African regional centre, work beginning on its headquarters, and progress in business operations and mechanisms, he said.
PM urges BRICS nations to work collectively for a digital world, skilled world, healthier world, equitable world and harmonious world.

JeM, LeT in BRICS declaration due to violent activities: China
China defended the move to include Pakistan-based terrorist outfits like JeM, LeT and the Haqqani network, saying they have been included in the BRICS joint declaration due to concerns about their violent activities in the region.
"These organisations are all sanctioned by the UN Security Council and have a significant impact for Afghanistan issue," Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang was quoted by news agency PTI.
BRICS Declaration Names Pakistan-Based Terror Groups For The First Time
India on Monday scored a significant diplomatic win as BRICS nations at a summit in China named, for the first time, Pakistan-based groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and the Haqqani network in a strongly-worded declaration condemning terror.
"We strongly condemn terrorist attacks resulting in death to innocent Afghan nationals. We, in this regard, express concern on the security situation in the region and violence caused by the Taliban, ISIL/DAISH, Al Qaida and its affiliates including Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, the Haqqani network, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, TTP and Hizb ut-Tahrir," said the declaration issued by BRICS countries or Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, at the summit in Xiamen.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the summit and will hold talks with President Xi Jinping of China tomorrow, their first meeting after the prolonged Doklam standoff ended last month.
PM Modi will also hold bilateral meetings with other leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, which is among the five counties -- Mexico, Guinea, Thailand and Tajikistan-- invited by China as part of 'BRICS Plus' outreach exercise.
