BJP Dares Rahul Gandhi To Oust Congress Leader Over Remark On Amit Shah

BJP demanded that Congress president Rahul Gandhi sack BK Hariprasad or ask him to publicly apologise.

New Delhi:

The BJP has slammed Congress over a senior leader's remark on Amit Shah's health, daring party president Rahul Gandhi to remove him as the general secretary. The BJP said that if Congress' BK Hariprasad was not sacked, it would reflect that his comments were supported by Mr Gandhi.

Congress leader BK Hariprasad had said that the BJP president's illness was due to "panic" after some party MLAs in Karnataka returned, alluding to the political crisis in the state.

"If he (Amit Shah) topples the Congress-JD(S) government, then he will have vomiting and loose motions. That is why he got swine fever," Mr Hariprasad said in connection with the Karnataka political crisis.

BJP spokesperson GVL Narsimha Rao accused the Congress of supporting such "toxic" comments.

"The Congress always has two faces. On one side is Rahul Gandhi and on the other, you have people like Hariprasad with toxic comments. Their behaviour is widely known to the people," Mr Rao said.

"If they really want to disapprove of his remarks, Rahul Gandhi must sack him or ask him to publicly apologise," he added.

Mr Shah was admitted to New Delhi's AIIMS on Wednesday due to a swine flu infection.
