New Delhi:
Protesting the Rs 5-hike in petrol price, over 300 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers blocked traffic and held sit-in demonstrations in the capital Monday morning, throwing traffic movement out of gear.
The protests started from Akshardham Temple, and spread to Red Fort, BRT Corridor Ambedkar Nagar, Subash Nagar, and Moti Nagar crossing.
BJP leaders Vijay Goel, Vijender Gupta and others led protests at various locations. The party had yesterday held rallies at five places.
Gupta, chief of Delhi BJP, said "just after the conclusion of election process in five states the UPA Government has imposed a big burden of price spiral on the people."
On Saturday, the petrol companies had announced a hike of Rs 5/ litre effective the same midnight. This is the steepest ever hike in petrol price, which not stands at Rs 63.37 in Delhi.
