Hyderabad: Chandrababu Naidu, the man who often takes credit for building Hyderabad into a world-class IT hub, is a no-show at the city's three-day business summit with Ivanka Trump as star attraction.

Mr Naidu, who helped draw international biggies like Apple and Microsoft to set up sprawling campuses in and around Hyderabad, was not invited to the Global Entrepreneur Summit, which opened with speeches  by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ivanka Trump and included a five-course meal at the hilltop Falaknuma Palace on Monday night.

Andhra Pradesh had reportedly pitched for the summit to be held in Amravati, being constructed as the state's new capital, or the port city of Vishakapatnam, but it was Hyderabad that won the contest.

Among the nearly 500 Indian entrepreneurs attending the summit is Chief Minister Naidu's daughter-in-law, Nara Brahmani. Along with her mother-in-law, the Stanford grad runs Heritage Foods, whose core business is dairy products. Her husband, Lokesh, is a cabinet minister.

''I would love to represent Andhra Pradesh. Very excited to be here. Change has to begin at home. In our home, the women run the business. Important to not just give education but also involve women in discussion and decision-making.''

The summit headlined by Ivanka Trump was begun by US President Barack Obama and is being attended by entrepreneurs from more than 100 countries.
