'Account Hacked', Says AAP's Manish Sisodia After Anti-Anna Hazare Posts

Anti-Anna Hazare posts were retweeted by senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia's Twitter account.

New Delhi:  Claiming that his Twitter handle was hacked, Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has denied endorsing and retweeting social media posts against activist Anna Hazare. The senior Aam Aadmi Party leader reportedly retweeted several post which described activist Anna Hazare as a "BJP agent" and a "fraud".

Issuing a clarification, Mr Sisodia tweeted:
"Please don't believe them. I have greatest respect for Annaji. Can never say such things against him," the senior Delhi minister added.

This comes days after Anna Hazare accused the AAP of being "power hungry" which, he said, led to their poor performance in the municipal polls in Delhi.

"When AAP came to power in Delhi, people's expectations increased. It will felt that there will be a change in the country," Mr Hazare said, at his village of Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra.

"However, their credibility dwindled. An important reason for this decrease was that these leaders reneged on their poll promise of not accepting government facilities like official bungalows and other perks," he claimed.

The AAP, which won an unprecedented 67 of the 70 Delhi assembly constituencies in 2015, managed to win a dismal 48 of the total 272 wards in the recently held municipal elections in Delhi. It also performed below expectations in the assembly elections of Punjab and Goa. Senior leaders, including party chief Arvind Kejriwal, blamed faulty EVMs for their poor performance.

"They should have come forward to prove their charges. Now, it is late," Mr Hazare said, reacting to the AAP's objection against the EVMs.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia were active members of Anna Hazare's anti-corruption, Jan Lokpal movement in 2011. However, the movement split when some members, led by Mr Kejriwal, decided to enter electoral politics against the wishes of Anna Hazare.
