Speech-Impaired Woman Alleges Rape By 4 Army Men At Military Hospital

The 30-year-old woman reportedly works at the Military hospital.

Pune:

A 34-year-old speech and hearing-impaired woman has accused four men working with the Army of raping and threatening her at a military hospital in Maharashtra three years ago, police said.

The woman, employed at the Military Hospital in Pune's Khadki suburb since 2014, alleged that she was raped between January and June 2015 by the four who also worked at hospital at that time.

The Army is conducting a 'court of inquiry' and the police are also investigating the allegations.

"According to the woman's complaint, she was on night duty when she was allegedly raped by one of the accused," a senior police officer said.

When the woman told another personnel about the incident, he assured her he would reprimand the accused, the officer said.

However, the woman added, he threatened and blackmailed her before allegedly raping her.

A few days later, two more personnel threatened the woman and allegedly raped her, the police official said.

The woman, part of the support staff at the hospital, told an NGO in Indore, Madhya Pradesh about the alleged assault earlier this year. The NGO informed the police after which a case of rape and molestation was registered against the four men.

"A court of inquiry was initiated well before the police complaint was registered," an Army official said.
