Actress Parul Chauhan, who plays the role of Swarna in TV show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, will marry actor Chirag Thakkar in December, reports The Times Of India. The couple first met in 2015 through a common friend. They have finalised December 12 as the wedding date. "My family and relatives have been waiting for me to get married. Everybody has this question, so finally yes, the time has come. I am getting married on December 12. We haven't zeroed in on the venue yet, but there will be a court marriage in Mumbai, followed by a small function in my hometown, Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh and a get-together in Mumbai," Parul told TOI.
Parul Chauhan and Chirag Thakkar have been together for three years. Explaining the kind of relationship they share, she told TOI, "Chirag is not my boyfriend, he is my friend. We have not dated in the conventional term. If having coffee together and sharing everything with you best friend amounts to dating, then yes, we dated for three years."
Parul also added that Chirag never really proposed to her. However, when she realised that she should marry a person like him, she started to know him better. Both their families met during last Diwali. "Last year, when my mother visited me during Diwali, I invited Chirag and his family for the puja. When my mother met Chirag, she said that she wanted a son-in-law like him. The two families eventually talked about it and finally, we are getting married," Parul told TOI.
She also shared the news on Instagram with the TOI article. "I believe marriage is lifelong commitment and friendship is a lifelong engagement. Chirag, every single day I spent being your friend, I realise how lucky I am to live such an amazing life," read an excerpt from her post.
Parul Chauhan, 30, debuted on TV with the hit show Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai. Rishton Se Badi Pratha, Punar Vivah - Ek Nayi Umeed and Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi are some of the other shows on her resume.
