New Delhi: Actor Ranveer Singh plays the role of Kapil Dev in the cricketer's biopic titled, '83. Filmmaker Kabir Khan, who is working with Ranveer Singh for the film, says that he is really 'fond' of the actor, reports news agency IANS. Ranveer Singh will soon feature as Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's much-awaited film Padmavati - the trailer of which released recently and garnered a great response from audience. Kabir Khan, who was present at the Miss Diva Grand Finale as a judge, was asked to comment on Padmavati's trailer. Of the trailer, he said, "I really liked the trailer of the film and look of Ranveer. I am really fond of him and I am doing my next film with him. The trailer is absolutely magnificent. The story of the film is looking really interesting and setting is also very interesting."

Of '83, Kabir Khan said, "'83, is a very special project to me. I feel it's more than a film. I will continue making films but there are some projects which come to you which are much above films and our individual career and '83 is that kind of a project."

"'83 is the story of Team India leading up to the historic day when they picked up the World Cup trophy at England's Lords Stadium on June 25, 1983 - "The day when India turned the world upside down," wrote Ranveer on the picture he posted on Instagram.

Recently, Ranveer was spotted at the launch event of '83 along with Kapil Dev (who was the team captain in 1983), then vice captain Mohinder Amarnath, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Bishan Singh Bedi and director Kabir Khan. Ranveer posted a picture on Instagram and wrote: "I feel honoured and privileged to be part of this film. One of the greatest underdog stories of all time - finally coming to the silver screen. What a day it's been. To have met our sporting heroes in the flesh and be regaled by their stories - full of nostalgia, humour to making a film that the entire nation can be proud of. The greatest Indian sports story will now get it's, emotion...a truly unforgettable event. Im filled with a sense of responsibility and committed deserved cinematic glory! It's time to #Relive83. May God bless our endeavour. Thank you for this once in a lifetime opportunity @kabirkhankk ... let's do this."
 


'83 is co-produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri of Vibri Media and founder of CCL along with Phantom Films.

The biopic will reportedly go on the floors early next year.
