New Delhi: Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar showed a 'remarkable growth' in past few days despite its 'slow start' because of Diwali. The film has made a total of Rs 34.36 crore so far, tweeted Trade analyst Taran Adarsh. The film managed to make Rs 4.80 crore on its opening day, which was Thursday and almost doubled its numbers on Friday with Rs 9.30 crore. On Monday, Secret Superstar earned Rs 3.05 crore and made a total of Rs 34.36 crore in four days. Well, it's definitely great news for Aamir and his Secret Superstar co-stars.

The film was released on Diwali on October 19. News agency IANS reports that it was distributed internationally by Zee Studios International and the film collected $2.8 million on its release weekend across markets like UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, UAE/GCC and Pakistan.

In Secret Superstar, Zaira Wasim, who hails from Kashmir, plays a teenage girl named Insia, who dreams of becoming a singer. The film is about how she fulfils her dreams by keeping her identity hidden.

Of the overwhelming response received by the audience, Zaira, who celebrated her 17th birthday on Monday, said, "I am really glad and overwhelmed. I am feeling very lucky and blessed... I think I am receiving more messages now than I received after Dangal. Everyone I know has appreciated the film and my work, it is an amazing feeling," reports IANS.

In his review for NDTV, Raja Sen writes: "Aamir Khan is an absolute hoot as he plays Shakti Kumaar, cheesy and predatorial and self-aggrandizing in completely cartoonish fashion. It is a caricature - try to imagine a combination of Anil Kapoor from Taal and Kamaal R Khan, poured into an Ed Hardy shirt - but Khan brings enough nuance to the table to make even this tasteless fool appear real. He has an outburst on television because he treasures talent over cuteness, he laments the way the industry hasn't given him any awards, and, on 'discovering' Insia, he declares that he'll buy the front page of Mumbai Times in order to launch her loudly enough. Khan embraces the nuttiness with glee, and I'd love to see more of this elaborately goateed idiot." He gave the movie 3.5 stars out of 5.

Secret Superstar is directed by Advait Chandan, who has assisted superstar Aamir Khan in films like Taare Zameen Par and Dhobi Ghat also.
