New Delhi: It was in 2012 when Kahaani Vidya Bagchi had checked into a neglected hotel on Kolkata's Sarat Bose Road to find herself amused by the humour and energy of a tiny helper. Vidya Balan featured as the female hotel guest while the role of the hotel help was played by Rwitobroto Mukherjee, who is in the final year of his school now, reported news agency PTI. Perhaps his name will not ring a bell but he'll be easier to identify this way - he's the one who introduced himself as "running hot water" to explain he's always at the service of his guests in the movie.

Wonder what he's currently up to? Rwitobroto is the son of veteran actor Shantilal Mukherjee and has taken keen interest in filmmaking. He is the director of a short film Bumper, which has been selected for screening at the 23rd Kolkata International Film Festival. Bumper has also entered the completion in the Indian Short Films category.

Rwitobroto Mukherjee's Bumper, a 14-minute-long film encompasses two intertwined stories about a taxi and two students, states the PTI report. Talking about his movie, Rwitobroto said: "I had planned the project three years back and am honoured that Bumper is part of the short film section of 23rd KIFF."

"To see my own film on big screen among other invited delegates and media persons gives a new high. Making a short film is the precursor to my next big step, a bigger project," he added.

Rwitobroto Mukherjee also has additional plans for his short film: "After the screening at KIFF, we have plans to take the film to some other film festivals including short film festivals. It will be posted on YouTube later on," he told PTI.

Directed by Shoojit Sircar, Kahaani released in 2012, after which Rwitobroto has also been part of Shoojit Sircar's production Open Tee Bioscope, which was Anindyo Chattopadhyay's debut as a director.
