Actress Meghan Markle's week began with a blockbuster bang when the Twitter accounts of Clarence House and Kensington Palace revealed that she and Prince Harry became engaged earlier this month and would be married next spring. The 36-year-old actress is best-known for her role as paralegal Rachel Zane on
Suits, now in its seventh season. Meghan, who is of mixed race, and Prince Harry, 33, have been dating since June 2016 and live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace after they are married. Harry is the younger son of Prince Charles and the late Lady Diana and the younger brother of Prince William.
Far less is known about his fiancee. Meghan Markle was born in Los Angeles in 1981. Her father is Emmy-winning lighting director Thomas Markle and the young Meghan often visited him on the sets of Nineties sitcom
Married... With Children. Meghan graduated from Northwestern University where she majored in theatre and international studies.

Meghan Markle is divorced from actor-producer Trevor Engelson - that makes her the second American divorcee to marry into the British royal family after Wallis Simpson for whom King Edward VIII abdicated his throne in 1936.
In September 2017, Meghan Markle opened up about her relationship with Prince Harry for the first time. "We're two people who are really happy and in love. We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people's perception," she told
Vanity Fair.
The couple were first spotted together buying a Christmas tree last December; days later, they attended a West End show - a week after Prince Harry reportedly interrupted his tour of the Caribbean to visit Meghan in Toronto, where she lives.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's first public event was in May at the Polo Club in Ascot; later, she attended the wedding of Kate Middleton's sister Pippa.
