Actress Kangana Ranaut's sister Rangoli Chandel, who also doubles as her representative, tweeted that Alia Bhatt should "take a seat now" after the Raazi actress said that she'll "remain quiet" when asked about her stand after the allegations made against her family by actress Kangana Ranaut. On Tuesday, Rangoli shared a link of an article carrying Alia Bhatt's statement and wrote: "I really hope you go quiet darling... You and papa have milked enough backhand PR from this, please take a seat now." On Monday, Alia Bhatt was asked about Rangoli Chandel and Kangana Ranaut's unflattering comments on social media about her family, to which the 26-year-old actress said: "If I am like this, then my family is ten times more mature and stronger than I am. I don't want to get into this... Everybody has the right to say what they want to. I will be quiet, that's my stand," reported news agency PTI.

Rangoli Chandel also tweeted: "People aren't stupid, they see who stands alone and where is gang of movie mafia, in this time and age honesty and transparency is most valued so keep your medieval age 'main chup rahoongi' sob story to yourself, no need to make this viral every day." She added: "Snatching others work and opportunities every day, begging and pleading makers to cast, playing games and using connections to grab films doing back hand PR and on surface behaving like a sheep, as if people are idiots not to see through this."

Alia Bhatt has been on the receiving end of some critical comments made by Kangana Ranaut, starting with the 32-year-old actor dismissing Alia's performance in Gully Boy as "mediocre" and saying that she was 'embarrassed' that Alia Bhatt in Gully Boy is considered her competition.

The controversy took a different turn after Rangoli targeted Alia Bhatt and her mother Soni Razdan over an article about their British passports. Soni Razdan retaliated with a tweet (which she later deleted) and reminded Rangoli that Alia's father Mahesh Bhatt gave Kangana her "Bollywood break." Rangoli then alleged that Mahesh Bhatt "threw a chappal" at Kangana at the preview of Woh Lamhe when she refused to star in one of his films.

On the work front, Kangana is looking forward to the release of Mental Hai Kya while Alia Bhatt is filming Brahmastra.
