Aaaand... Akshay Kumar's Gold hits a century at the box office. The film, which released on Independence Day, has earned Rs 100.45 crore, trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported. Gold crossed Rs 100 crore-mark in about two weeks. It is Akshay Kumar's ninth Rs 100 crore film, Mr Adarsh added. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Jolly LLB 2, Rustom, Airlift and Housefull 3 are some of Akshay's film to have hit a century at the box office. "Gold crosses Rs 100 crore-mark on Day 13... (Week 2). Meanwhile, apart from Gold, 2018 films like "Padmaavat", Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Raid Baaghi 2, Raazi, Race 3 and Sanju have also hit the 100 crore jackpot so far at the box office.
Gold had got the third biggest opening day of 2018. It also surpassed the opening day record of Akshay's 2015 film Singh Is Bliing, which released on a national holiday (Gandhi Jayanti), and was the highest till now.
TV actress Mouni Roy debuted in Bollywood opposite Akshay Kumar in Gold. Akshay plays the role of a hockey coach Tapan Das, who trains team India to win its first gold medal as a free nation at 1948 London Olympics. Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh and Sunny Kaushal are also part of the Reema Kagti-directed Gold.
