Akshay Kumar's mother Aruna Bhatia died due to age-related issues on Wednesday morning in Mumbai. A few hours later, her final rites were held at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle. Akshay Kumar and his wife, author Twinkle Khanna, were pictured arriving at the crematorium. Akshay's close friends from film industry, including Riteish Deshmukh, Rohit Shetty (who has directed Akshay in the upcoming film Sooryavanshi) and Sajid Khan, attended the cremation. Riteish has worked with Akshay in several films like the Housefull series and Heyy Babyy, directed by Sajid Khan. Twinkle Khanna's daughter Nitara and cousin, actor Karan Kapadia, were also photographed at the Pawan Hans crematorium.
Producer Ramesh Taurani was among the other celebs who paid their last respects to Aruna Bhatia on Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday morning, Akshay Kumar announced the death of his mother in a tweet. He wrote about "feeling an unbearable pain at the very core of his existence." His tweet read: "She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti." See it here:
Akshay Kumar returned from London to Mumbai earlier this week after his mother's heath condition worsened. She was in the ICU of Hiranandani Hospital in Mumbai. After meeting his mother, Akshay had shared an update on her health. "Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom's health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help," his tweet from Tuesday read.
