An interview of Aamir Khan with a Chinese reporter, in which the 53-year-old actor opened up about his relationship with wife Kiran Rao and ex-wife Reena Dutta, is doing the rounds on social media. The undated video appears to have been filmed when Aamir Khan visited China earlier this year. Aamir and his films are quite popular in the country and the success stories of Dangal and Secret Superstar are proof. In the now viral clip, Aamir Khan revealed that though he met Kiran before divorcing Reena Dutta, they started dating after Aamir and Reena split. "I met Kiran before... when I was doing Lagaan. But at that time we did not have any relationship... not even great friends. She was just one of the members on the unit. After my separation and divorce we met again," he told the reporter.
Aamir Khan revealed how he started dating Kiran Rao and when they decided to get married. "In that moment of drama, her phone came and I talked to her on phone for half an hour and when I put the phone down, I said, 'I feel so happy when I talked to her.' It struck me in that instant that when I'm talking to her I'm so happy. So then we began dating and seeing each other. We lived together for a year or a year-and-a-half before we decided to get married. I can never imagine my life without Kiran as my partner. I feel very blessed and I'm very grateful for it," Aamir Khan said.
Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta were married from 1986 to 2002 and they are parents to Ira and Junaid, who has assisted Aamir on several films. Speaking about his cordial relationship with ex-wife Reena, Aamir said: "Yes, it's very modern. She is a wonderful person. Sometimes a relationship doesn't work but I have a lot of love and respect for her. In fact, we are working together on this Paani Project. She is the CEO of the company."
Aamir Khan married Kiran Rao 2005 and their son Azad Rao Khan was born in 2011.
