With JEE Main exam at the edge, students across the nation are gearing up to write the paper from tomorrow onwards. The National Testing Agency, or NTA, will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) from tomorrow -- September 1.
To aid the students commuting from nook and corners of the country, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) students and alumni promptly came forward and launched a dedicated portal to connect with Samaritans who may want to help the needy candidates.
Odisha has announced free transportation and accommodation for JEE and NEET candidates and decided to lift lockdown in cities with examination centres.
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee recently opposed the idea of conducting exams amid a pandemic, however, ruling out the chances of JEE Main postponement, NTA stuck to the Supreme Court’s order and said, “Sufficient arrangements have been made to conduct the exams safely.” NTA has also said that over 99% of the candidates have been assigned their "first choice of centre cities" and assured the candidates of JEE Main and NEET.

General JEE Main 2020 Dress Code
- Candidates are not allowed to carry any metallic objects while appearing for JEE Main 2020. Thus, they should avoid wearing any kind of jewellery, ornaments, or any other gadget.
- Watches are not allowed in the exam hall.
- Candidates who wear kara or kirpan due to religious reasons have to report to the exam centre almost 1.5 hours before the gate closing time and intimate the officials or otherwise, they will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
- Candidates must not cover their heads, for example, cap, dupatta, etc unless its a customary dress for which they have prior permission.
- Candidates are also not allowed to carry any handbags, stationery items, gadgets, electronic items or communication devices.
Changes in JEE Main dress code on account of COVID-19
With the pandemic situation hovering around, it is vital that students will be expected to dress according to the guidelines issued by the health ministry. This will include face masks, gloves and other such items. Since candidates may be asked to report quite early to allow a phased entry, they may also be allowed to carry some food items too.

Can't Hold Hunger Strike: Delhi Police Notice To NSUI
Delhi Police has issued a notice to the National Students Union of India (NSUI) preventing the student body from holding their hunger strike against JEE and NEET exams in September.
"We first requested permission for raisina road, which was denied. With no other options left, we decided to hold it inside NSUI premises near Shastri Bhawan (Education ministry)," Akshay Lakra, Delhi state president of NSUI said in a statement.

More than 99% aspirants of JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 in each of the two examinations have been allotted the first choice of centre city. To meet these requirememt, NTA has increased the JEE Main and NEET exam centres considerably.
