Paper 1 of JEE Main 2018 online CBT is being held for admission to B.E and B.Tech.
The second phase of JEE Main examination -- online Computer Based Test (CBT) -- has been concluded with the first shift of the second day of exam on April 16. The online CBT was held in three shifts on April 15 and April 16. The exam was organized in 247 cities across the country and abroad. CBSE, the official agency which conducts the exam, will release the official answer keys of both online and offline exams on April 24. The
official answer keys will be released on the official JEE Main website,
jeemain.nic.in. However, the candidates may refer unofficial answer keys released by educational institutes and coaching centres on their websites. (NDTV is not responsible for the errors in the answer keys published on third party portals).

The first phase of The 6th edition of Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2018 offline exam was held on April 8, 2018 for approximately 10,43,739 Lakh candidates registered for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes in NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions etc. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IIT/ISM Dhanbad.
Paper 1 of JEE Main 2018 online CBT is being held for admission to Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech).

April 16, 2018. 06:50 pm: According to CBSE, a total of 2,16,756 candidates appeared for the JEE Main online exam conducted in 247 cities across India and abroad. The examination was conducted under the supervision of the Chairperson, Secretary, Executive Director (JAB) and the team of other officials of CBSE.
April 16, 2018. 02:50 pm: "Online examination is secure and gives the students a lot of flexibility in answering the questions with more confidence as they can go back and update the answers, if need be, before submitting the final response. Conservatively, we expect about 15% growth the number of online aspirants for JEE Main in 2019," says Rajshekhar Ratrey, VP Educational Content, Toppr.com.
April 16, 2018. 12:50 pm: The early impression for the online exam on day 2 are not in yet. However, CBSE which is the organizing authority for JEE Main is responsible for ensuring that the difficulty level remains the same in all the shifts of the exam. On day 1 of the exam, the Chemistry section was a bit tougher in comparison to Mathematics and Physics which students found easy. CBSE conducted the online exam for 2.38 lakh candidates.
April 16, 2018. 12:30 pm: The first shift for day 2 of online exam is over now. The second shift of the examination will begin at 2:00 pm and end at 5:00 pm.
April 16, 2018. 9:30 am: The first shift for JEE Main 2018 online exam begins. Exam will be over at 12:30 pm. The question paper will be of same difficulty level as yesterday.
April 15, 2018. 05:30 pm: The second shift of online examination of JEE Main 2018 has been concluded now. The candidates would need to wait till April 24 for the official answer keys. The official answer keys will be released on the official website, jeemain.nic.in.
April 15, 2018. 05:23 pm: "Online examinations are increasing their circumference in a well-planned and effective way, allowing students from tier 2 towns and small cities to become comfortable with the technology. Also since IIT-JEE (Advanced) examination is going to happen only online that is another reason why more students opted for JEE (Main) online mode for hands on experience and actual practice," says Professor Udaynath Mishra, Chief Academic Officer, BasicFirst.
April 15, 2018. 05:22 pm: The first day shifts of JEE Main CBT to be concluded soon. CBSE will conduct one more shift tomorrow, in the morning, from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. No untoward incidents have been reported so far.
April 15, 2018. 02:30 pm: The second shift of day 1 of JEE Main online exam begins. The exam will be held till 5.30 pm.
April 15, 2018. 01:58 pm: In a related development, CBSE has delayed the release of
NEET admit card. NEET admit card was supposed to be released in the second week of this month.

April 15, 2018. 12:45 pm: Entry in the examination hall for frisking begins for the second shift of day one. The examination will begin from 02:30 pm. The candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall after 02:30 pm.

April 15, 2018. 10:30 am: On April 11, after the completion of the JEE Main offline paper, CBSE issued a statement denying a report which suggested 7-8 questions out of the 90 questions of the paper were carried from a model paper of a coaching institution by the name of Narayana Academy.
The board said that all these 7-8 items or questions were originally written only about two to three months back and they cannot and could not have figured in any model paper by any coaching institutions two years back.
"There is an atmosphere of falsities and rumour mongering being deliberately perpetuated against a prestigious organisation like CBSE. CBSE appeals to all not to pay heed to such falsities," said the board.
