DUSU Results 2017: Counting Over; NSUI Wins 2 Central Panel posts, ABVP 2
ABVP was leading the DUSU counting in the initial rounds but after counting of almost 50% votes, NSUI was back in race and was leading on three posts. ABVP was still ahead for Secretary post.
As per reports in PTI, there was a feeble turnout of voters for the Students Union elections in Delhi University with only about 43% students turning up to cast their votes.
In this years' DUSU election, ABVP fielded a political science student from Motilal Nehru College, Rajat Choudhary as its president candidate while Paarth Rana, Mahamedhaa Nagar and Uma Shankar contested for the posts of vice-president, secretary and joint secretary respectively.
From NSUI, Rocky Tuseed who is an MA Buddhist Studies student, Kunal Sehrawat, Meenakshi Meena and Avinash Yadav contested for the top central panel posts.
Apart from ABVP and NSUI, AISA and SFI were also in the fray.
Reports have also emerged that a lot many students preferred NOTA instead of voting for a candidate.
After the win, NSUI said the students of Delhi University have given the party a huge responsibility to fight for their rights. The Congress's students' wing also said in a tweet that this mandate shows that students throughout the country have rejected the poisonous and divisive ideology of RSS.
A major comeback for us in #DUSU2017, students of DU have given us a huge responsibility to fight for their rights.(1/4)- NSUI (@nsui) September 13, 2017
Former President of DUSU and Congress leader Ajay Maken congratulated the winners.

Won 3 out of 4 seats in DUSU including President
NSUI had managed big wins in Panjab University and Gauhati University Student's Union elections recently.
An ABVP member, reacting to the turnaround, told NDTV: "We were in the union for four years. These are dirty tricks by the Left and NSUI. The Left put out dummy candidates to help the NSUI win."
