Dr. Faisal is the senior most faculty member who has been working since the inception of the Centre in 2011.

Dr. Faisal KP has served as the member of the AMU Court during 2016-19.

Malappuram, Kerala:

After High Court of Kerala quashed the appointment of its Malappuram Centre Director, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has appointed Dr. Faisal KP as the Officiating Director of the Centre.  Dr. Faisal is the senior most faculty member who has been working since the inception of the Centre in 2011.

Previously, Dr. Faisal had worked as Assistant professor in the Department of Sociology, Delhi School of Economics and the Department sociology, Jamia Millia Islamia and Hamdard University. 

He also served as the member of the AMU Court during 2016-19. 

While talking to NDTV after taking over as the Director, Dr. Faisal counted the fund crunch the Centre is facing right now as one of the major challenges in front of him.

"Without proper funding, the Centre is in deep financial crisis. The Centre has not received the full Rs 104.9 crores sanctioned by first UPA government. We are yet to receive 45 crores," said.

He added that the financial crisis has stopped the further development of the campus.

"Tripartite cooperation of Central government, AMU and the state government is important for the Centre's development," he commented while suggesting that he finds himself as a mediator for collaborating all these parties for the proper functioning of the Centre.

He also said that his primary objective will be channelizing the whole academic exercise in the Centre to the Detailed Proiect Reoort (DPR) prepared by the Central education ministry for the whole advancement of AMU Malappuram Cenntre.

After his graduation from Darul Huda Islamic University, Faisal completed his PG from Calicut University and secured M.Phil and Ph.D from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
