CBSE Class 10, Class 12 Exam 2018: Failed Can Appear As Regular Students Now
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has allowed the students who have failed in class 10 or class 12 examinations from last academic year to appear as regular candidates in the upcoming board examinations. The Board which conducts secondary and higher secondary examinations for nearly 20,000 schools affiliated to it has also allowed students seeking improvement to avail the facility, though, it said the decision of registering a student for exams will be completely relied upon the rules governing the school or trust.
CBSE has recently started the online submission of List of Candidates (LoC) for the regular candidates of Class 10 and class 10 from the affiliated schools.
"Those candidates who have passed/failed in class X/XII in 2017 Examination can also seek fresh admission as regular candidate in an CBSE affiliated school and appear in X/XII Examination 2018 for improvement ( for pass out candidates) /passing( for failed candidates)," said a notification published by the board.
"It is clarified that CBSE is examining body and Admission in the school will be decided by the school as per their own rules governing the school/trust," added the board.
"This is applicable to those students appearing in whole examination," a CBSE official told NDTV.
According to CBSE examination Bye-Laws, a candidate who has passed an examination of the Board may reappear for improvement of performance in one or more subjects in the succeeding year only; however, a candidate who has passed an examination of the Board under Vocational Scheme may reappear for improvement of performance in the main examinations in the succeeding year or the following year provided they have not pursued higher studies in the meantime, but, they will have to appear as private candidates.
"Those reappearing for the whole examination may, however, appear as regular candidates also if admitted by the school as regular students. The candidate(s) appearing for improvement of performance can appear in the subject(s) in which they have appeared for the Examination," says the CBSE examination Bye-Laws.
CBSE had conducted class 10 and class 12 examinations of year academic year 2016-2017 on March and the board declared the class 10 examination results on June 3, 2017.
Senior School Certificate Examination or class 12 results were announced on May 28, 2017.
