Actor-dancer Sapna Chaudhary was a surprise presence next to the BJP's Manoj Tiwari as he went in a big roadshow to file his nomination to contest from North East Delhi in the national election. Weeks ago, the buzz was that Sapna Chaudhary would join the Congress.
Like she had denied joining the Congress, the former Bigg Boss star and Haryana performer rejected the suggestion that she had joined the BJP.
"I have not joined the party (BJP), I'm here because Manoj Tiwari ji is a good friend of mine," Sapna Chaudhary told reporters.
Manoj Tiwari, who is the Delhi BJP chief, will face his Congress counterpart Sheila Dikshit in North East Delhi.
Last month, she generated much news as her photo with Congress's Priyanka Gandhi Vadra circulated on social media. There was also talk about the Congress fielding her as its candidate from Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, against the BJP's Hema Malini.
Sapna Chaudhary then called a press conference and denied all speculation of joining the Congress, calling the photo an old one. She also said she had met Priyanka Gandhi several times and though she was "very good", she had no plans of campaigning for the party.
Almost immediately afterwards, she was seen with the rival camp. A new photo showed her at Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari's home.
"Yes, I met Sapna. In her press conference, she clearly said that she hasn't joined the Congress and she won't be campaigning for the party," Manoj Tiwari had said.
Asked whether she would join his party, Mr Tiwari had said: "Only time will tell."
Sapna Chaudhary shot to fame after her stint in Bigg Boss. In 2018, she was among the most-searched persons on Google.
