New Delhi:

A Delhi court today rejected bail plea of Ashish Pandey, son of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) lawmaker arrested for brandishing gun in a hotel in the national capital.

The bail application of Pandey, who was sent to 14-day judicial custody by the court yesterday, till November 5, was dismissed by special Judge Suni Rana, after the police said that he was not required for further custodial interrogation.

On October 14, a video of Ashish Pandey flashing a gun at a hotel went viral. The fight started in the hotel's ladies' toilet in The Hyatt Regency, where Pandey can be seen arguing with a woman. Gaurav Singh, son of a former Congress lawmaker had accompanied his woman, to the restroom. An argument started when the three women, who were with Pandey, also entered the restroom.

In the middle of the heated argument, Ashish pulled out his gun and shouted, "I will kill you."

A plea was filed by Delhi Police, which had registered an FIR against Ashish Pandey, on the complaint of the hotel staff of The Hyatt Regency.

Soon after the incident, Pandey had gone 'missing'. The court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him. He held licenses for three firearms, which were suspended.

In a video message, Pandey claimed that he was the one who was being threatened and the gun he pulled was meant for "safety".

He had also put out an apology on a WhatsApp group accompanied with an SOS message.

"Dear friends, there is a viral video of me going around...it as a mistake...I made a mistake and apologise for it. At this time need you stand by me and help me stop this video going viral. I am really sorry, I disappointed you and myself. Help me sort this mess up please," the message read.

Later, he exited from all WhatsApp groups and switched off his phone.

Ashish a realtor, who hails from Lucknow, is the son of former BSP leader Rakesh Pandey. His brother, Ritesh Pandey, is a lawmaker in Uttar Pradesh.
