Jun 20, 2013 21:27 (IST)
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bhauguna to NDTV:
  • We have not been able to access people who were on foot between Guarikund and Kedarnath
  • NDRF, Army, ITBP teams on foot are there
  • The death toll is very high, but now our mission  is to save those who are alive
  • More than 500 roads damaged, 200 bridges washed out
  • The worst is over and relief and rescue operations are on
  • The damage in Kedarnath was because of a cloudburst
  • This is the season where we get highest number of people. When you get severe rain warning do you evacuate the city?
  • Uttarkashi, Rishikesh are cities built on rivers , they are centuries old.
  • We want ecology balances with development; we have not sanctioned fresh projects.
