Over 50 MPs of different parties supported the No Confidence motion moved by the opposition parties including the Congress and the TDP. The Speaker has to give a date and time for the motion to be taken up and the Parliament will wait for the Speaker's nod.
Since TDP was the first to move a no confidence motion, their motion was accepted.
In the last session of parliament the motion could not be taken up as the house was not in order at that point of time.
In 2003 Sonia Gandhi had moved a no-confidence motion against the Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government, but the opposition did not have numbers then but rather they wanted to make a point.
