Prime Minister Narendra Modi Statement In Germany

Guten Tag Deutschland. This is my second official visit to Germany.

I have interacted with Chancellor Angela Merkel at multiple forums and I have always admired her insight on a range of issues.

We had wide ranging discussions today.  India-Germany partnership will help our nations and also the world.

Ministers of both countries had wide-ranging discussions in the areas of cooperation between India and Germany.

We are looking at outcome oriented momentum in India-Germany ties and a quantum jump, especially in economic ties.

Climate protection is a top priority for India. Living in harmony with nature has been a part of our culture for thousands of years.

Our cooperation in areas like renewable energy is gaining momentum.

Germany's extensive work in skill development, which has set the standards globally can benefit the youth of India.

India is giving an impetus to next-gen infrastructure and this is an area where we want to extensively work with Germany.

Science and technology, the start-up world are important area which have been given special attention during my visit.

The world today is interconnected and inter-dependent. Diversity and democracy are the foundation stones of a healthy society and a prosperous country. India leads in both.

We (India and Germany) are made for each other.

Whether it be bilateral relations, humanitarian issues, regional or global issues - every discussion with Chancellor Merkel has been very beneficial.

In today's IGC, we conducted a comprehensive review of bilateral relations with Chancellor Merkel and her team.

Our relations have a regional and global perspective. We discussed a new and upcoming opportunities and challenges in Asia, Europe and the world.

German business and industry is an important partner in India's economic achievements.

As for our stance to climate change. What if the Paris Climate Deal hadn't happened. What would India have done?

We have been a responsible nation and always will be. Like I said, respecting and being one with nature is a part of our culture. We firmly believe that playing with the lives of our children and future generations is not something we do. We have no right to do so. We are taking aggressive steps to ensure that we move rapidly towards clean and renewable sources of energy. A clean environment is a top priority for India.
