Greater Noida:

A woman, who pretended to be an Indian Foreign Service Officer and managed to get police protection in six districts in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, was arrested from Greater Noida on Thursday.

The woman, identified as Zoya Khan, also had a fake United Nations Security Council identity card that identified her as a Nuclear Policy Officer based at Washington DC in the United States. Another UN State Department identity card, which was recovered from her, had "Mission Afghanistan in Washington" written on it, police said.

Harsh Pratap Singh, a man arrested along with Zoya, told police he was her husband, Gautam Buddh Nagar police Chief Vaibhav Krishna said. Both of them were arrested from Greater Noida's Gaur City 2.

The police have also recovered two cars that had blue beacons.

Zoya sent e-mails to police chiefs in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, Meerut, Aligarh, Moradabad and Haryana's Gurgaon using proxy servers and managed to get police protection, Mr Krishna said.

"Two cars - a Mercedes and an XUV- with blue beacons and UN logos have been recovered. Two laptops, a pair of walkie talkies and a fake pistol were also seized from the couple," Mr Krishna said.
