Human skeleton found in charred van in Jhajjar

Rohtak: Police on Tuesday recovered a human skeleton from a charred vehicle along the bank of a canal near Matanhel village in Jhajjar district of Haryana.

The incident came to light when some villagers spotted the charred vehicle near the canal, Jhajjar Superintendent of Police Patram Singh said.

On spotting a human skeleton inside the vehicle, the villagers informed the police about it.

The police extricated the skeleton from the van and took it to the Civil Hospital for postmortem.

"On basis of the engine and chassis numbers of the van, it has been ascertained that the vehicle was purchased from New Delhi two years back", the SP said.

Stating that efforts were underway to trace the identity of the deceased, Mr Singh said that the postmortem report would confirm whether the deceased was a male or a female.

The help of forensic experts has been taken to solve the case, the police official said.

A police team had also been rushed to New Delhi to collect further details relating to the vehicle, he said.
