DRDO scientist's son found murdered in a drain
Hyderabad: A Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) scientist's 11-year-old son was on Monday found murdered, police said.

The body of Pranav Chalavadi was found in a gunny bag in a drain near Guddimalkapur market.

The son of V. Ram Mohan, a project manager at DRDO, was missing since June 10. A student of Class 5 at a private school, Pranav had not returned home after he went out to play. His parents lodged a complaint with the police the next day.

The police have registered a case of murder and of tampering with evidence after it became clear from the post-mortem report that the boy was smothered. Police believe the boy was murdered 48 hours before his body was found.

The motive of the murder was not clear. The police are questioning the parents of the boy to find out if they received any ransom call or if they have enmity with anyone.

Police Commissioner A.K. Khan told reporters that the police questioned some relatives of the boy during the last two days but did not find any clue.

He said the boy's father told the police that while they have differences with some relatives, they are not of a nature which could have led to kidnap and murder.
