    PAN Aadhaar news: The Income Tax Department said last month that a PAN will be generated automatically if a person files the ITR is filed using Aadhaar.     Trade unions of state-run bank staff on Monday called off a two-day strike scheduled for this week. Four unions had called a 48-hour bank strike to protest against the mega merger of public sector lender announced by the government and demand for a wage revision. In a joint statement dated September 23, the four trade unions said the decision to defer the strike followed assurance from Finance Secretary Rajiv Kumar who would look into their concerns. A strike on Thursday and Friday would have led to a four-day disruption in banking operations, with Saturday and Sunday being holidays.

    Over six crore accounts in the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) will be credited with interest at the rate of 8.65 per cent for financial year 2018-19 ahead of the festival season, Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar said. In an EPF or Employees' Provident Fund account, the employee contributes 12 per cent of the salary whereas an equal amount is contributed by the employer, according to the EPF website - epfindia.gov.in. The salary amount includes basic wages, dearness allowance and retaining allowance.
