Xiaomi Redmi 1S: Flipkart's Next Round of Sale on Tuesday

Xiaomi's Redmi 1S smartphone will be available in its third round of flash sale on Flipkart on September 16. Buyers interested in Xiaomi Redmi 1S have to register on Flipkart and the registrations will close on September 15 midnight.

In the previous round of flash sale, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S sold out in seconds, disappointing many buyers. For 40,000 Xiaomi Redmi 1S smartphones on offer, more than 2 lakh interested buyers had registered on Flipkart.

Chinese handset maker Xiaomi is following the same flash sale strategy for its new handset after successfully doing it with an earlier model Mi3. Xiaomi is estimated to have sold 90,000 units of Mi3 smartphone.

Priced at Rs 5,999, the dual-SIM Redmi 1S features a 4.7-inch display, 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory (expandable up to 64 GB), 8MP rear camera and 1.6MP front camera.

Touted as the 'Apple' of China, Xiaomi is one of the latest entrants in the multi-billion Indian smartphone market, following other Chinese firms like Oppo and Gionee. India is among the fastest growing smartphone market globally. According to IDC data, the smartphone market in India grew 84 per cent in the April-June 2014 quarter to 18.42 million units from 10.02 million units in the year-ago period. (With Agency Inputs)
