Working on Reducing Waiting Period of Automatic Variants: Maruti Suzuki

Chennai: Maruti Suzuki India on Tuesday said it was working on reducing the waiting period of some of its automatic variants.

"We are working on reducing the waiting period of AGS variants (Auto Gear Shift). Currently it stands at about six to eight weeks for the Celerio range", Maruti Suzuki India marketing-vice president Manohar Bhat told reporters, after launching the latest hatchback Maruti Suzuki K10.

He said the waiting period for the AGS models was due to imports of some products from its vendor Magneti Marelli.

To meet the demand for AGS equipped variants, the company was in the process of setting up the manufacturing plant with Marelli at Manesar which was expected to begin production next year, he said.

To a query, he said the company may also look at offering auto gear shift variants in other models as well. Currently, Maruti Suzuki offers auto gear shift models in its Alto K10 and Celerio models.

The new Alto K10 manual variant is offered at an introductory price of Rs 3.19 lakh to Rs 3.70 lakh while auto gear shift variant at Rs 3.94 lakh. The CNG variant is priced at Rs 3.96 lakh (Ex-showroom Chennai).

Maruti Suzuki India reported 1.1 per cent decline in total sales in October at 1,03,973 units as against 1,05,087 units in the same month last year.
