New Delhi: Wipro, India's third largest software services firm, on Monday said it plans to double its headcount to 140 over the next 18 months in Muscat to meet increasing business requirements in the Gulf region.

Established in 2011 in Oman, Wipro Gulf LLC has been growing rapidly over the last three years, delivering critical projects across oil and gas, aviation, engineering, banks and government sectors, the company said.

"Buoyed by the rising demand for services, Wipro plans to double the headcount over the next 12-18 months," Wipro said in a statement.

Wipro Oman currently employs 70 professionals and has provided services to more than 25 clients across sectors.

"In continuation of our long term business outlook for Oman, we are seeing a lot of interest from clients in the region for services around business enablement, simplification and analytics," Wipro general manager and business head (Gulf) Mukund Seetharaman said.

Wipro is committed to delivering world class solutions and building on existing footprint to create new job opportunities in the local market, he added.
