Volvo launches V40 Cross Country

Volvo Cars has driven in its promised new model into the Indian market. The V40 Cross Country (CC) is the sporty, butch avatar of the V40 compact station wagon. (Watch Video)

The sporty styling elements allow the V40 CC to encroach on the SUV-Crossover space, and will also allow Volvo to compete with everything already at the entry end of the luxury segment.

We're talking about cars like the Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Mercedes-Benz B Class. All these cars though are very unlike each other in attribute and yet will be considered by the same buyer given their positioning between Rs 24-34 lakh.

The V40 CC is priced at Rs 28.50 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. Unlike its rivals it's loaded with plenty of goodies - multiple airbags, Volvo's patented City Safety system, ABS, Dynamic Control, a one-piece panoramic sunroof, infotainment with Bluetooth connectivity, and yes - the car has Park Pilot so it can park itself.

Volvo does plan to offer lower priced V40 variants - not the CC - later this year or in 2014.
