Volatility index jumps 10% amid Ukraine standoff

NSE's volatility index, or the domestic equivalent of the VIX fear gauge, advanced 10.4 per cent and headed for its biggest single day rise since January 27 as rising tensions in Ukraine cast a shadow over emerging markets.

The Nifty fell 0.97 per cent and is on its way to snap a five-day winning streak that saw the index gain 3.1 per cent.

Also, CBOE Emerging Markets ETF volatility index headed for the biggest single day gain since February 3.
