To beat the festive rush, Vistara has announced additional daily flight between Delhi and Kolkata starting today. "This additional flight, the third daily flight between the two cities, will operate until October 28," Vistara said in a release. "Kolkata has played an important role in Vistara's growth, and the performance of our flights and market acceptance have grown strongly since we started flying to Kolkata last year. We are delighted to add a third daily flight during the festive season between Delhi and Kolkata, giving travellers even more options," said Sanjiv Kapoor, chief strategy and commercial officer, Vistara.

The airline, which operates with a fleet of 16 Airbus A320 aircraft, has also curated a new inflight menu especially for Durga Puja, it added.

In addition to Delhi, Vistara also operates daily non-stop flights between Kolkata and Port Blair, and Kolkata and Pune.

Vistara is also celebrating Onam with special inflight meal and introduction of second daily flight between Delhi and Kochi starting today.

Many airlines have been offering discounts and attractive fares amid the aggressive competition in the aviation sector. Among them, IndiGo is the most recent to join the airfare war with discounted one-way fares starting at Rs 1,005 on select domestic routes. 

In July, domestic air traffic registered a growth of over 17 per cent with airlines ferrying 95.65 lakh passengers as compared to 85.08 lakh passengers in the corresponding period last year, the government said.
