TVS Motor posts 5% rise in January sales, stocks up

Two-wheeler major TVS Motor Company posted a 5% rise in total sales in January 2012. January 2012 sales stood at 173,514 units against 165,152 units in January 2011.

Analysts said sales were in-line with estimates. Stocks of the company traded with over 1% gains in a down market today.
 
The company’s cumulative sales for the period April 2011 to January 2012 grew by 10% with sales of 1,843,554 units against 1,678,048 units recorded in the previous comparable period.
Total two wheeler sales increased by 6% with sales of 171,112 units in January 2012 in comparison with 161,725 units recorded in January 2011. Scooters grew 2% recording sales of 41,469 units compared to 40,736 units in January 2011. Motorcycles sales registered 65,608 units in January 2012 against 67,721 units in January 2011. Domestic two wheeler sales of the company grew by 8% with 153,014 units in January 2012 against 142,227 units reported in January 2011.

Exports:
Exports registered total sales of 18,610 units in January 2012 against 21,224 units in the same month of the previous year. The company’s two wheeler exports stood 18,008 units in January 2012 in comparison with 19,498 units in January 2011.
 
Three Wheeler:
The company sold 2,402 units of three wheelers in January 2012 against 3,427 units in the same month of the previous year. Cumulative three wheeler sales for the period of April 2011 to January 2012 stood at 34,449 units, a growth of 10% over the same period of the previous year.
