Tata Global Beverages names Ajoy Misra as new managing director and CEO

Tata Global Beverages Ltd (TGBL) has appointed Ajoy Misra as the managing director and chief executive with effect from April 1, 2014.

At present, Mr Misra is the deputy CEO and executive director of Tata Global Beverages and will take charge of the new position on April 1, the company said in a statement.

Tata Sons yesterday said incumbent head of the company Harish Bhat has been elevated to a senior advisory position, as Member -- group executive council (GEC).

It also said Mr Bhat will step down on March 31 but continue to be a non-executive director on the board.

Mr Misra will with immediate effect function as managing director-designate, until he formally takes over.

Mr Misra has spent more than 30 years in the Tata Group. Prior to joining Tata Global Beverages, he held several leadership roles in the Taj Group of Hotels, including as the head of global marketing and sales, area director and general manager of various regions and properties of the Taj.

He holds an undergraduate degree in engineering from BITS Pilani, and a Masters in Business from the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, and an Advanced Management Programme from the Harvard Business School.
