Vedanta Limited is the largest exporter of iron ore in the private sector. It is India's largest producer and exporter of iron ore in the private sector and is on course to be in the league of top four iron ore producing companies in the World. Apart from Iron ore it also produces pig iron and metallurgical coke.
History
Vedanta Limited was founded in 1954, as Scambi Economici SA Goa. It became a majority -owned subsidiary of Vedanta Resources in 2007. In 2015, Sterlite Industries and Sesa Goa announced their merger and finally merged into a single entity in August, 2015. In 2015, Sesa Sterlite changed its name to Vedanta Limited.
Product and services
Vedanta's services include copper, which consists of manufacturing of copper cathode, continuous cast copper rod and anode slime, including from purchased concentrate and manufacturing of precious metal from anode slime, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid; Iron ore; aluminium, which consists of manufacturing of alumina and various aluminum products; Ppower, which consists of power, including power facilities engaged in generation and sale of commercial power, and other, which consists pig iron and metallurgical coke. Its iron ore business consists of iron ore exploration, mining, beneficiation and exports.
