BackgroundTata Steel was set up as Asia's first integrated private steel company. India's first industrial city at Jamshedpur was developed by the company. In 1971 and 1979, the Government of India made two attempts to nationalize the company, however, this didn't get through. That time the company was known as TISCO (Tata Iron and Steel Company), but changed its name to Tata Steel in 2005. The company acquired NatSteel in 2004, Millennium Steel in 2005 and Corus in 2007.
