Reliance Industries Limited is an Indian conglomerate holding company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Reliance owns businesses across India engaged in energy, petrochemicals, textiles, natural resources, retail, and telecommunications. The company which had a revenue of Rs 3,39,623 crores for the year ended March 2017, is one of India’s largest publicly traded companies by market capitalization. The company's equity shares are listed on the National Stock Exchange and the BSE Limited. The Global Depository Receipts issued by the Company are listed on Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
About Reliance Industries:
The company was founded by Dhirubhai Ambani in 1960s and initially focused on the polyster business. The company held its Initial public offering (IPO) in 1977 and in 1985 changed its name to to Reliance Industries Ltd. The company also became the first Indian private sector company to be rated by S&P and Moody’s Reliance Industries currently earns a major part of its revenue from refining, and the rest from petrochemicals, oil & gas, organized retail and digital services. The company employs 24,167 people, according to its Annual Report for 2016-17.
