Punjab National Bank (PNB) is a state-run bank headquartered in New Delhi. The bank has a network of 6,941 domestic branches and 9,753 ATMs, as of September 30, 2017, according to its website. PNB remains committed towards nation building and actively participated in all schemes launched by the Government of India for financial and social empowerment of the masses. In FY17, Punjab National Bank reported a net profit of Rs 1,324 crore over revenue of Rs 47,276 crore. As of December 2017, government held a 57.04 per cent stake in the bank while the remaining 42.96 per cent was with the public.

History
PNB, India's first Swadeshi Bank, commenced its operations on April 12, 1895 from Lahore, with an authorised capital of Rs 2 lakh and working capital of Rs 20,000. The far-sighted visionaries and patriots like Lala Lajpat Rai, Mr. E C Jessawala, Babu Kali Prasono Roy, Lala Harkishan Lal and Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia displayed courage in giving expression to the spirit of nationalism by establishing the first bank purely managed by the Indians with Indian Capital. During the long history of over 122 years, seven banks have merged with PNB.
