Alstom India previously known as Alstom Projects India (APIL) established in 1992 is the Indian arm of the France–based multinational company, Alstom. Alstom Projects India deals with manufacture of power supply generation equipment and rail equipment. In India, the company's manufacturing facilities are located at Coimbatore, Shahabad, Durgapur and Vadodara. The company employs 3500 people in the country. It has 6 engineering centres situated at 4 locations. APIL also has three sales offices.

Their engineers built the fastest train and the highest capacity automated metro in the world. They provide turnkey integrated power plant solutions and associated services for a wide variety of energy sources, including hydro, gas and coal.

Power Service:The company provides the most complete range of power generation services and equipment worldwide, from repair, performance improvement, lifetime extension services, on–site field services to full–operation and maintenance solutions.

Rail Transport:In rail vehicles, our TGV high speed trains race through 8 European countries daily. Their regional trains, metros, freight vehicles can be found on every continent. Their trams are our latest success: over 350 have been ordered for cities as diverse as Rotterdam and Melbourne.

The Coimbatore manufacturing activities were established in 1999 to manufacture a range of traction and signalling equipment to supply the Indian market. The factory is ISO 2000 and 14001 certified and is located in an industrial area with access to component suppliers. The Bangalore Engineering team is currently providing application engineering for a number of ALSTOM signalling projects in Europe and Asia.

1911– First factory built in Kolkata.

1950– Participated in setting up the first major manufacturing unit of BHEL, Bhopal

1959– Power Boilers facility established in Durgapur

1963– Boiler/Mill facility established in Shahabad

1992– Asea Brown Boveri Management Limited (ABBML)

1999– Asea Brown Boveri Management Limited (ABBML) became ABB ALSTOM Power India Limited (ABBPL)

2000– ABB ALSTOM Power India Limited (ABBPL) became ALSTOM Power India Limited  

2002– ALSTOM Power India Limited became Alstom Projects India Ltd.

2004– Hydro manufacturing facility established in Vadodara

2008– Global Technology Centre (GTC) established in Vadodara

2009– Foundation stone laid of power equipment manufacturing plant at Mundra in Gujarat

2010– Alstom Projects India secured environmental control systems contracts worth more than Euro 40 million in India and Vietnam that will slash emissions.

2011– Alstom Projects India signed a letter of intent with Shanghai Electric Group for the creation of Alstom–Shanghai Electric Boilers Co, a 50/50 joint venture (JV) company combining both partners’ activities in the boiler market for power plants.

2011– Alstom Projects India (APIL) received a final approval to the amalgamation of a group company – ALSTOM Holdings (India) (AHIL) with itself.

2012– ALSTOM Projects India Limited became ALSTOM India Limited
