Adani Power is one of the largest private power producers in the country with an installed capacity of 10,480 MW. The power projects are spread out across the states of Gujarat, Maharshtra, Rajasthan and Karnataka. The company aims to achieve the target of 20,000 MW by 2020. The company incurred a loss of Rs 6,054 crore in the financial year 2016-17 against a profit of Rs 5.62 crore in the financial year 2015-16. The company is headed by chairman Gautam Adani. It is engaged in electricity generation, transmission and distribution. The company has operational power plants in Mundra, Tiroda, Kawai, and Udupi. Adani Power is a group company of Adani Enterprises that has a bouquet of companies that include Adani Ports & SEZ, Adani Transmission, Adani Solar , and Adani Gas, among others.

Background
Adani Power announced the acquisition of Udupi Power Corporation in May 2015, acquiring the total commissioned capacity of 10,440 MW, thus becoming the largest power producer in the country.
In February 2012, the company had commissioned the last unit of Mudra Project, taking the capacity to 4,620 MW. After this, the Mundra TPP became the largest privately held thermal power plant in the world.
