SpiceJet on Tuesday announced the launch of 28 new domestic flights connecting Mumbai and Delhi with other cities on its network, said the private sector carrier in a press release. Of the new flights, 14 will connect Mumbai, eight will connect Delhi while the rest will connect the two metros with each other. All the new flights will be effective from April 26, 2019, according to the airline. The announcement by SpiceJet comes at a time when full-service carrier Jet Airways has suspended its operations temporarily.

"..We hope these new flights will help minimise passenger inconvenience caused as a result shortage of capacity in the Indian aviation market," said Shilpa Bhatia, chief sales and revenue officer, SpiceJet.

Last week, SpiceJet announced the introduction of 24 new flights on its domestic network. It also announced the induction of six Boeing 737 aircraft into its fleet.

The carrier has recently also announced a host of direct international flights to Hong Kong, Jeddah, Dubai, Colombo, Dhaka, Riyadh, Bangkok and Kathmandu from Mumbai, effective from May-end.

Meanwhile, rival GoAir is offering domestic and international flight tickets at a starting all-inclusive price of Rs. 2,765 and Rs. 7,000 respectively in a limited-period offer.
