SML Isuzu Shares Subdued After Decline In September Sales

Shares of SML Isuzu traded on a subdued note today in comparison with a rally in other auto shares.

SML Isuzu, the commercial vehicle maker, reported a decline of 5.3 per cent in sales on a year-on-year basis in September sales.

SML Isuzu on Saturday said that it sold 977 units in the month of September compared with 1,032 units during the same month last year.

On a month-on-month basis, SML Isuzu's sales declined 9.7 per cent as the commercial vehicle maker sold 1,082 units in August.

SML Isuzu is majorly owned by Sumitomo Corporation, Japan, and Isuzu Motors, Japan which respectively hold 44 per cent and 15 per cent shareholding in the company.

As of 11:46 a.m., SML Isuzu shares traded 0.4 per cent higher at Rs 1,274, underperforming the BSE Auto index which was up 2.15 per cent.
